Dog sledding in Karelia

If you think the wolf-like Alaskan huskies are frightening, you are mistaken. They are very friendly, social and playful dogs, and they love to run. Run fast. Run far. The owners use them in dog sledging competitions. With the steady flow of visitors, they get to run every day.
There are several trips for you to choose among at Skify Tour, and all suggestions include transportation to and from Petrozavodsk.
One-day trip for the individuals and large groups
It is a perfect introduction to dog sledging for the individuals or large groups with limited time and/or budget. Experienced dog-drivers will give you a short briefing in the safety training of dog sledding. And at the same time you will get to know the dogs. It will be a short round about 2 kilometers. You will sit in the sled or try to drive it yourself. The trip starts out in the woods or near the Skif guest house. After the trip you will be served tea with a little snack in a reindeer skin tent.
Overnight stay with Husky
This is an authentic experience in the Taiga environment. Dog sledging and sleep over in a karelian wooden guest house. Good company and a lot of good stories. During these trips you will get the real experience of the life with a dog team. You will participate in all the work, from getting the dogs ready, feeding them, keeping the fire running in the stove.
Getting here
The owners will pick you up at Petrozavodsk railway station and return you there when you are finished.
What is true is beautiful
What is beautiful is useful
Learning that go ahead!
